SAT Test Dates

SAT Test Dates

SAT Test DatesThe SAT is given only on specific dates each year; you can’t schedule your own date for the test. However, for your convenience there are usually seven SAT testing dates each year, and at least six internationally. The dates change slightly each year, but every year the SAT is offered three times in the spring (March in the US, May, and June), twice in the fall (October and November), and twice in the winter (December and January).

Whether you’re taking a test as a junior or a senior, the test dates are the same, since juniors and seniors take the test on the same dates. Quite often, juniors will take the SAT during one of the spring dates. Then, if they are satisfied with their scores, they will be done with SAT and go on to the other parts of their college applications in fall of their senior year. But if they aren’t satisfied with their score, those juniors can wait and take the SAT again in the fall of their senior year.

In order to take the SAT, you must register in advance for one of the specific dates. Here are the final SAT dates for spring 2015:

As you can see in the table above, you can register online or through the mail for any of the official SAT test-taking dates. You can register for the SAT up until approximately one month before the test. This is considered the normal registration period, and you will pay for only the cost of the test. However, you may also register for the SAT up until approximately two weeks before the test date. However, this is considered the late registration period, and you will be required to pay an additional late registration fee.
