What to Bring on Test Day

SAT_pencil_calculatorOn the day of the SAT, you want to be prepared. Specifically, you want to be sure that you’re allowed to take the test that you’ve registered for, and that you haven’t gotten something and therefore put yourself at a disadvantage. Here are the things you should and should not bring with you on your test day.

Required to Bring

  • Admission ticket (can be printed through the SAT website)
  • Photo identification
  • At least Two No. 2 Pencils
  • A soft eraser
  • An approved calculator – we’ll talk more about the calculator in a moment

Encouraged to Bring

  • A wrist watch (Must not have an audible alarm)
  • Extra calculator batteries and other backup supplies (extra pencils, erasers, etc.)
  • A backpack or other bag for personal belongings
  • Drink and/or snack for breaks

Not Allowed to Bring

  • Cellphone or smartphone (or any other texting device) – if you drive to the testing center, leave it in your car
  • iPod or similar device
  • Laptop, notebook, tablet, or similar device
  • Camera or any other device that can record photographs, video, or audio

As long as you keep these things in mind, you will have everything you need to focus and do well on the SAT.
